It’s been a full month since we launched our crowdfunding platform, Humaniq Care. The announcement might have come as a bit of a shock for those who didn’t follow our social media. We held a couple of trial runs of delivering charity before the launch, with B-Gifted Foundation serving as a partner for the run. That gave us confidence to launch the platform itself, but it may not be exactly clear what it’s all about.

An addition, not a pivot.

Humaniq has always been about the ecosystem, not any specific service. Once we developed the main App infrastructure, it was time to populate it with useful features. Of course, finding out what people need and would use isn’t always a straightforward process.

That’s why we adopt a strict “lean” method of business creation, with a well-defined cycle of generating the hypothesis, testing, receiving feedback and deciding the next course of action.

Humaniq Care is in that sense a hypothesis we’re testing. The core product remains Humaniq App, which we in fact use to support the platform.

It simply adds to the existing features such as Business Chats, LocalHumaniqs etc.

Why crowdfunding?

Recent years have seen the growth of several crowdfunding platforms. Kickstarter began the trend, though it has a fairly limited scope of funding actual business ventures. GoFundMe is a relatively recent success, and we even used it ourselves as support for the B-Gifted campaign. Facebook has also jumped on the bandwagon, leveraging its huge base of people.

You might say, “How can they make money? People don’t care about donating”. They may be a minority, but there enough people to make donations for $140 million a month back in 2016, and that’s just for GoFundMe.

Traditional charity collects even more, $410 billion for 2017, just in the USA.

It’s a big market, and blockchain adds a new dynamic to it: complete transparency.

Literally never before were you able to donate directly to someone in need.

Charities spend the money they receive as they see fit, sometimes leading to significant fraud.

Platforms such as GoFundMe improve this to a significant extent, but they hit a major roadblock with traditional banking. It is essentially impossible to send money to a private person overseas, especially in countries with an underdeveloped banking sector, which are also those that need aid the most.

Humaniq Care exists to fill this niche, a natural extension of our motto of Empowering the Unbanked.

The Practical Implications

Our platform is very young, and we are working really hard to make it a success.

It’s also under heavy development, with planned features such as a fiat gateway, social media integration with testimonials on the platform, simpler registration system, all being on the way.

We’re already seeing some small victories, such as new projects submitted organically, support from the community (even outside crypto), as well as donations coming in.

And the best has yet to come.
